7 Basic 'must haves' when starting skateboarding.

7 Basic 'must haves' when starting skateboarding.

If you're looking for an affordable skateboard setup, here are some ideas to consider:

  1. Deck: Look for a skateboard deck that suits your preferences in terms of size and shape. Shop around for deals or consider purchasing a UK brand, which tends to be more affordable than USA branded ones.

  2. Trucks: Trucks connect the wheels to the deck. Look for reputable brands offering budget-friendly options. Independent, Thunder, and Venture are known for their durability but have higher price tags.... consider new brands such as Film & Slappy trucks as they have the same quality with lower price tags.

  3. Wheels: Consider getting a set of affordable wheels from brands like Ricta, Sabbath, Bones, or Mini-Logo. Look for a size that suits your riding style, typically between 52mm to 56mm for street skating. You might find you want a softer wheel for skating within the UK.

  4. Bearings: Bearings enable the wheels to spin smoothly. Brands like Modus, Bones, Mini-Logo, or Bronson offer affordable options without sacrificing quality. Look for ABEC 5 or higher ratings for a decent ride.

  5. Grip Tape: Grip tape provides traction for your feet on the skateboard deck. Generic grip tape is often more affordable than branded ones and can serve the purpose just as well. All our decks come with free griptape.

  6. Hardware: Look for affordable skateboard hardware sets that include bolts and nuts for attaching the trucks to the deck. Many brands offer inexpensive options that are durable enough for regular use we offer our own basic bolts as well as a collaboration with UK brand Deez Nuts

  7. Protective Gear: While not directly related to the skateboard setup, investing in protective gear is essential for your safety. Look for affordable options for helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards - We often sell pad sets that include Knee,Elbow and wrist pads these are a cost effective way to pick up everything you need.
